On 11th August, 2009, Pearl Jam played a ‘secret gig’ at the Shepherd’s
Bush Empire in London. Being a huge PJ fan I desperately tried to get
tickets in the PJ fan club lottery but was unsuccessful. I had resigned
myself to the fact that I was not going to the show & I had eventually
made my peace with that. Later that day two friends of mine said they
were going to go down to the venue and try and get tickets from a tout,
I wished him luck and asked him to try and get me one.

A few hours later he called me to say he had got 2 tickets from a tout
for the 2 of them for £100 each. They said to come down and try and get
one myself. I was so upset that they didn’t get me one and I was
desperate to go to this show. I went on eBay and found a seller selling
2 tickets for £250. I really did not want to spend that kind of money
but the fact that my friends now had tickets (and no where near as big a
PJ fan as I) I did the unthinkable and bought them. I was to meet the
seller at the show.

A few hours later I am at the venue with my brother. I met the eBay
seller int he queue with cash in hand and got my 2 tickets. We got into
the venue and got seats on the 1st floor and I waited for my friends who
got tickets earlier. I finally got hold of them on the phone for them to
tell me they had queued and were turned away at the door as the tickets
they had bought from a tout were fake!!!

It ended up being a great show and I’m happy I went but the rub is I
never would have gone to this show had my friends not have got those
(fake) tickets!
