Every year the Foo Family raise money and donate the proceeds to their chosen charity. In 2017 the nominated charity was Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for supporting those with terminal illnesses. Over the past few years, the Foo Family have raised over £15,000 for various charities and this total will continue to grow in the coming months.
As always, people went above and beyond in order to raise funds for such a vital service. The Family’s aim was to raise £5000 and, by the end of December, they’d pushed through their target to raise an incredible £5369.33!
Events happened throughout the year with peoples imaginations running wild in to how they could raise the maximum amount of money. The Foo Family’s bonus ball syndicate raised £720 while the ever popular auctions raised £1302.30. In September, and jut three days before Foo Fighters played the iconic venue, several members of the Family climbed the O2 in London and raised a stunning £2124! They later went on to the Foo Fighters Arms in Bethnal Green for some well deserved drinks. As the year drew to a close, there was a night of Christmas drinks with music from tribute band Kingz of Leon and a raffle which raised a beautiful £631.
The Foo Family’s charity for 2018 is the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity that has supported so many people. Event are being organised and the first one to go ahead is is Ian Page. Ian’s cutting his hair in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and so far has raised just over £640. If you want to help him hit his £1000 target you can do so here.
There’ll be more fundraising events throughout the year so keep an eye on the page to see what’s happening and how you can get involved. If you’d like to set up an event, go to the page and send a message asking how you can get involved. The more the merrier!
Congratulations to everyone who raised money during 2017! You did a fantastic job! And good luck to everyone who’s raising money during 2018!
With many thanks to Angie Grohl Hill, Andrea Harper, and Linda Conway for the amazing photos!
