Fans were surprised when, during May 15th’s Acoustic 4 A Cure show at The Fillmore in San Francisco, Dave, Taylor, and Rami premièred a new song. “The Sky Is A Neighbourhood” was performed acoustically and appears as though it could allude to a number of things including the current political climate or how the world appears to feel.
Fans have been divided over the new song with some singing its praises while others say that they hope it grows on them. Many are anticipating how the song will sound when an album version is available. Whatever the opinion, people seem happy that there’s new material on the way and the band’s self-imposed “I-Hate-Us” appears to be coming to an end.
Acoustic 4 A Cure is Sammy Hagar and James Hetfield’s annual fundraiser which helps to raise funds for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. During the event, Dave, along with Taylor, Rami, Mick Fleetwood, and Steve Vai, performed “Times Like These”, “Everlong”, and “My Hero”, as well as the live debut of “The Sky Is The Neighbourhood”. Dave was the co-headliner after James Hetfield pulled out due to tour obligations.
