Three years ago, I said that I’d write a book about Foo Fighters fans. It was an offhanded comment, one that I made without a thought for what the future may bring.
What I didn’t know is that, one day, I’d be making good on that comment. It’s strange what the universe can occasionally ask you to do.
Work on that book started nearly a year ago and it’s now slowly inching towards the finish line. The majority of the interviews have been compiled and edited. The post-it notes and books full of notes are slowly being put away. Now we’re waiting on a few final pieces in order to add the finishing touches.
So far the book looks beautiful, a work of art that I never thought I’d be a part of creating. And it’s come about thanks to the wonderful fans. Your words, your stories, your memories, have become intertwined to tell a story like no other. A story of passion, of love, of friendship, and of community, all woven together by one band.
So what happens next? While the final pieces are being put into place, I’ll look for a publisher who’s willing to take the book. Many have a list of items that they require including a brief description of what the book’s about and chapter breakdown. Then we play the waiting game to see who’ll pick it up. Hopefully it’ll be a quick and easy process.
Working on this book has been an honour and a privilege. Thank you so much for letting me in to your lives and allowing me to tell your stories. This has been, and continues to be, a beautiful journey.
