Over the past few weeks, Foo Fighters have been posting Throwback Thursday (or Fooback Friday, depending on which day of the week the post goes up) photos on their Instagram. Many are tagged, not only with the photographer who took them, but also with the date and location of the photo.
Fans are speculating what these photos are for. Are they regular, pulled from the archives in order to share the memories, photos? Or is there a deeper meaning to them, one that may point to future shows or projects? In some cases, the location on the photos is a venue, leading some fans to wonder whether another announcement is on the horizon.
Teasing the fans is not a new game for the band and the last time they did it was back in February with “boarding passes” that became tickets to the Frome show. As well as that, they now have the option for fans to walk into a virtual photo booth and have their “passport photo” taken. This was used in, it seems, in order to promote the band’s upcoming appearance at the Sonic Summer Festival in Japan.
On 10th May, a flight tracker was added to the Foos’ website with a plane heading south. This has lead to speculation of another concert announcement, possibly in Mexico
Do the photos on their Instagram mean anything? Are they linked to what happened with the Frome show and with their online Photo booth and flight tracker? Feel free to add your thoughts in the comments.
